About the Korean Language

Korean (한국어) is spoken by over 80 million people worldwide and features one of the most logically designed writing systems in history—Hangul (한글). Created in 1443 by King Sejong the Great to promote literacy, Hangul is a phonetic alphabet composed of 24 basic letters designed to mimic the shape of the mouth and tongue when making each sound. While the sentence structure follows a Subject-Object-Verb (SOV) order, the writing system itself can be mastered in just a few hours!

Why Learn Korean?

  • The Global Hallyu Wave (Korean Culture): From global pop music (K-Pop) and record-breaking shows (K-Dramas) to cinema, skincare (K-Beauty), and cuisine, learning Korean lets you experience world-defining pop culture in its authentic, original context.

  • Economic & Technological Powerhouse: South Korea is a global hub for innovation, technology, automotive design, and entertainment, housing world-leading conglomerates like Samsung, Hyundai, LG, and SK.

  • Brilliantly Logical Writing System: Unlike languages with thousands of unique characters, Hangul was created specifically so that anyone could learn it easily. It is widely praised by linguists as one of the most efficient writing systems in the world.

  • Cultural Connection & Hospitality: Understanding Korean honorifics and speech levels provides deep insight into Korean etiquette, respect, and social dynamics, allowing for far richer personal and professional connections.
